Mr. Van Wicklen is the son of Captain Richard Van Wicklen of the Long Beach Life Saving Station. (Richard^7 Van Wicklen is listed above as Captain of this Long Beach Station, however, he does not have a son named Whitney. Perhaps, Richard^8 was also a Captain and Whitney is an unidentified son of Richard^8...or ...perhaps Whitney is a middle name that one of Richard^7s sons went by.)
